Vessel MSC SHUALA suffered A/E crankshaft main and crankpin journals damaged after a connecting rod failure. The crankshaft was send to our facilities for damage assessment and salvaging. The works included the following stages:
- Rigorous inspection, measurements and damage assessment
- Rough grinding of all main and connecting rod journals on our CNC DB7000 grinder with PIN CHASING technology
- Buildup of all journals
- Stress relieving
- Final grinding of all journals to standard dimensions with maximum ovality 3μm
