Vessel MSC SHUALA suffered A/E crankshaft main and crankpin journals damaged after a connecting rod failure. The crankshaft was send to our facilities for damage assessment and salvaging. The works included the following stages:
 

  1. Rigorous inspection, measurements and damage assessment
     

  2. Rough grinding of all main and connecting rod journals on our CNC DB7000 grinder with PIN CHASING technology
     

  3. Buildup of all journals
     

  4. Stress relieving
     

  5. Final grinding of all journals to standard dimensions with maximum ovality 3μm
